Trading standards warn over fake GHDs and Ugg boots

cnewstylepurpleghdhairstraighteners.jpgFAKE GHD hair stylers and ugg Boots mean it has been an unhappy Christmas for ‘numerous’ shoppers in Warrington.

Officials at Warrington and Halton Trading Standards have been inundated with complaints from residents in the weeks running up to the festive period.

People have been buying the designer items from fake websites but officers say the goods ordered are very often not arriving.

A spokesman for trading standards said: “In the weeks leading up to Christmas we have received numerous complaints from residents who have bought GHD hair stylers and ugg boots from fake websites.

“These sites have been designed to look like official websites, but as you navigate your way around the website it will become apparent that this is not the case.

“Consumers are not receiving the goods ordered or, more frequently, receiving poor quality counterfeits”

Official GHD straighteners are on sale for more than £100 while some Ugg boots, specially designed sheepskin-lined shoes, sell for close to £200.

However the numerous fake websites which are easily found on the internet offer the items for as little as £20.

Officials are warning people buying online to order from official websites of the companies or authorised suppliers.
