My boyfriend tells me that I look like I’m a teenager; my cousin says in her adorable French accent that they are called uggs because they are ugly; and I have heard more than one person swear that they are the worst footwear trend of the century (worse than Crocs? Really?).

What?! They’re not that bad! I don’t wear them with skirts or leggings, and I definitely don’t wear them when it’s 70 degrees outside. And if you’ve never tried them on—it’s like stepping into a cloud…

But considering I technically was a teenager when I bought my Uggs, I am beginning to accept that maybe my boyfriend is on to something, and that perhaps it is time to move on to something slightly more age-appropriate. Le sigh.

Fortunately, this is probably the best time of year to be outgrowing Uggs. Town Center is currently a post-holiday disaster zone, with stuff haphazardly strewn all over the place, and much of it is on sale—including boots. And this is especially convenient for us South Florida girls, as it’s just in time for the first quasi-winter weather of the year.

But anyway. In my quest to find the perfectly casual and comfortable ugg older sister, I did find some possible candidates:

Aldo, $69.98

Nordstrom, $59.90

Nine West, $69.30.

I think these guys may emerge as the winner.

Moral of the story: If you can deal with the mess that is the mall right now, there are some pretty sweet deals on boots—catch ‘em before all the spring stuff comes!
