Pricing for the cases is unknown, but you can expect them to cost quite a bit. “We are excited to bring these products directly to our customers in stores that they already know and love,” said Wasim Khaled, CEO of Crystal Icing and LuxMobile Group. “Both ULTA and Office Depot are fantastic companies that we are happy to partner with.”

I am not a fan of over the top cases for the iPhone or other devices. The designs that are on Ed Hardy stuff just aren’t that appealing to me. If you like the designs and want a real Ed Hardy
case they are now available.

The cases are now available to be purchased in Office Depot and ULTA stores around the country. The faceplates are available for the iPhone and Blackberry devices.

If you don’t use either of those handsets there is also a line of stickers with rhinestones
on them to bling up other handsets. There is no word on pricing of the cases, but they will be sold at a premium I am sure.

I never understood the appeal of Ed Hardy stuff; the designs are a bit weird looking to me. The stuff must be popular though since you can walk into several gas stations around my city and find knock off shirts and hats for sale.

The Hard Facts

The only negative we have about the B7620 is that it is quite bulky. With the vital stats of 118.5 x 58.3 x 16.4 mm, it’s a bit bigger than most typical Smartphones in the market. Its 164-gram weight also makes it a bit on the heavy side. Nonetheless, the overall look and feel of this stylish device is able to make up for this mini hitch.

The 3.5-inch resistive touch screen display comes with Samsung’s famed AMOLED technology which makes it quite a treat for users. It works wonderfully well with the side slide-out QWERTY keyboard which also happens to exude Style and sophistication.

Under the hood of this beauty is a powerful 800 MHz processor which has been manufactured by Samsung themselves. The CPU combines well with the 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM to guarantee a smooth and silky ride for all users.

The Soft Spot

The software present in the B7620 is another strongpoint for the device. Samsung made sure that the powerful processor is put to good use as they have selected Windows Mobile (yet again) as their OS of choice. However, their deep customization of version 6.1 of the mobile OS should cast a shadow on any doubters or critics of this rather unimpressive operating system. Samsung’s celebrated TouchWiz user interface is also on board which makes for an excellent UI + OS combination once again.

The B7620 also holds a number of handy applications that make the device even more impressive. The usual Smart apps are on board including a mobile web browser, a GPS program (Route 66), camera and video apps, as well as a user-friendly multimedia application, to name a few. However, what makes this device unique is the addition of Giorgio Armani fashion application which, although more fun than functional, should satisfy the cravings of fashion-starved consumers out there.

The Verdict

The Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani isn’t going to be cheap. However, if you have the money to spend then why not go for it. This device is perfect for those who are looking to make a statement with their mobile phone, while at the same time still searching for a device that will provide for their mobile needs. Its design is unquestionably top of the line and it is backed up with a decent set of hardware and software features. Although it may not be up to par with the likes of the iPhone in terms of performance, it is still a breath of fresh air considering the fact that it falls in the category of fashion mobile.

Although it is obvious that the talking point of the new device is the brand name it is associated with, it still happens to be an excellent mobile phone – perhaps even comparable to the Omnia II. So, does the new B7620 have what it takes to reach the heights set by its predecessor? That’s what we’re here to find out.

The Omnia II was definitely one of the best models released by Samsung in 2009. Once we found out what it meant (Omnia actually translates to ‘everything’ in Latin), we realized how aptly named this impressive device was. It definitely had all the makings of a great Smartphone, and perhaps even more.

Features

Before we forget anything, we must keep in mind that the Omnia II was released in July, a good three months before the imminent launch of the B7620. That being said, let’s continue with the comparison, now focusing on the feature set of both mobiles.

In terms of connectivity, the two Smartphones pretty much mirror each other. Both also have the same caliber camera (5 Megapixels), as well as the same operating system (Windows Mobile 6.1), user interface (TouchWiz 2.0), and CPU (Samsung S3C6410 800 MHz processor). There also aren’t too many differences in terms of the pre-installed applications as the B7620 also has the Pocket Office, photo/video editor, as well as the multi-format media player on board. The only advantage of the B7620 is – aside from the Giorgio Armani Fashion apps, of course – the interchangeable work and life mode which allows users to switch from one pre-set home screen to another depending on their current mobile needs.

Looks

At first glance, the B7620 definitely looks a lot like the famed Omnia II. Both Smartphones have that sleek and shiny finish which has become a trademark in Samsung mobiles. The screens look identical, at least in terms of first impression, as the Omnia II’s display is only .2 of an inch wider. However, this is pretty much where the similarities end.

The first difference you’d notice is the B7620’s bronze lining which is able to give off a more elegant feel to the device. And of course, you couldn’t miss the Giorgio Armani label which spans across the top of the B7620’s screen. And then there’s the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The reason why the B7620 is much thicker than the Omnia II is for it to accommodate the keyboard which conveniently slides out from the Smartphone’s side. Once it pops out, the B7620 becomes much more professional-looking without compromising its elegant façade.

Final Words

All in all, the Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani is definitely a great follow-up to the Omnia II. It takes all of the best features of its highly successful predecessor and wraps it up in one of the most beautiful packages we’ve ever seen to date. Of course much of the credit has got to be given to fashion Guru Giorgio Armani for all the improvements on the device design-wise. The only issue we see is that of pricing. However, if you can afford an Armani suit then what’s a few extra hundred pounds for a mobile phone, right?
