Hats off to Kate: the Duchess of Cambridge was just named “Hat Person of the Year” by The Headwear Association. Beating Rachel Zoe, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Charlie Sheen — and taking a whopping 91 percent of the vote — the Duchess was the obvious favorite of online fans.
The Headwear Association — an organization founded in 1908 that “promotes hat wearing and the headwear industry throughout the world” — highlighted some of Kate’s best hats, including the velvet cabernet hat she wore on Christmas [...]

Veteran designer Wendell Rodricks has carried the sartorial legacy of Goa to a new level by documenting it in "Moda Goa" – a first-of-its kind pictorial and illustrative Fashion chronicle of the state. He says Goa was the cradle of Indo-Western couture.
"Goa was the birthplace of Indo-Western garments," Rodricks said in an interview. The book, "Moda Goa" (HarperCollins-India), which he describes as his tribute to his state, takes a look at the factors that shaped Goa’s distinct garment Style.
"The Portuguese, who were the first colonisers in [...]

Until Houston gets its own H&M, no trip to Dallas is complete without a shopping stop at NorthPark Center, currently one of two spots in Texas for an H&M fix. The other H&M opened in November at Town East Mall in the Dallas/Mesquite area.
Inquiries to Willowbrook Mall were referred to H&M, which has yet to comment on any locations. By summer, a couple of other locations will be “sprinkled” throughout the city, she said. When asked about a more central location in The Galleria, the [...]

With big, bold, and sometimes gaudy Fashion jewelry taking the market by storm, traditional buyers of gold, silver and gemstones may be worried that sleek styles and simple designs have been replaced. It’s also a hard truth for many wholesalers, retailers and consumers that the cost of precious metals is so high. However, Sun Fashion Designs has a low cost, high quality, sophisticated alternative: designer inspired, bonded/plated jewelry.
The manufacturer’s bonding process, utilizing a combination of several different colors of gold, produces a product that radiates and [...]

We’re in the home stretch now, cats ‘n’ kittens. I’m going to attempt to streamline this week’s recap so we can fully examine the Final Four individually and make our assessments as to their winnability for the endgame, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (insert audio clip here of choir singing). Besides the unconventional challenge, the episode where Tim visits the finalists at home is always one of my very favorites. I love seeing Tim traipsing around the Midwest or some other area where he looks completely out of [...]

ALTHOUGH an educator by profession, I boast a strong interest in Style. Part of my interest stems from 20 years of teaching styles of writing at the University of Pennsylvania. But another part comes from my mother, who grew up in Trenton, and was well known as a stylish lady. She got her nails and hair done every week, wore fur coats exclusively and had her own milliner make her hats.
When I moved to Philadelphia in 1970, I have to say, the city was short on style. [...]

Headbands emblazoned with Russian symbols, cheap accessories and military-Style clothes sashayed through the Russian Silhouette Fashion designer contest in Moscow this week.
The contest, first launched in 1997 by the Russian Silhouette charity fund, is aimed at supporting young Russian designers and took in 67 collections at the Gostinyi dvor exhibition center, where Moscow Fashion Week will kick off next week.
"We went through more regions this time, about 60, nine time zones of Russia and neighboring countries, held 32 semi-finals, viewed 4,000 designers, twice as many [...]

The same goes for the tunic’s unerring versatility. If this season’s trends for fetish, Forties and jewel colour fall on the side of the hard-to-pull-off, then something that functioned before the birth of Christ (and the invention of Spanx) should prove comparatively easy to wear.
And it does: if you can get your head round how to work the shape (think decadent Twenties drop waist), the tunic is your ideal respite trend, one that caters for the scourge that afflicts all women – fat days; looks better [...]
