A-lijn

De wijduitlopende tops, jurken en broeken zijn dit seizoen niet weg te denken uit de winkels. Vooral op de jaren zestig en zeventig geïnspireerde kledingstukken die de vorm van de letter A hebben, zijn een musthave.

Bloemen

Op de catwalk voor dit voorjaar zagen we veelvuldig kledingstukken met bloemenprints. Jassen, jurken, schoenen, sjaals: als het maar fleurig is deze zomer.

Colourblocking

Dé trend waar iedereen het over heeft dit seizoen, is de zogeheten colourblocking-trend. In normaal Nederlands betekent dit: het combineren van felle ‘kleurblokken’ in één outfit.

Denim

Spijkerbroeken zijn nooit uit de mode, maar vooral het huidige seizoen is denim modeverantwoord. Zo erg zelfs dat het is geoorloofd om van top tot teen in dezelfde kleur spijkerstof te lopen.

Espadrille

Deze luchtige schoen met lichte zool is ideaal voor in de zomer. Gelukkig zijn er verschillende modellen voor zowel mannen als vrouwen verkrijgbaar dit voorjaar.

Hoge zolen

Niet iedereen is te spreken over de hoge plateauzolen die prada op de catwalk introduceerde. Maar nu ook Chanel, Fendi en andere modemerken de schoen met hoge zool in de collectie hebben, is de trend een feit.

Indigo

Diepdonkerblauw, ook wel indigo genoemd, is eveneens een mooie kleur in uw lentegarderobe. Mooi zijn de spijkerjurken van Stella McCartney in deze bijzondere tint.

Jumpsuit

Overalls, een ander woord voor jumpsuits, zijn al een tijdje in de mode. Ook deze lente zijn ééndelige pakken – mits ze u goed staan – een musthave.

Kant

Dankzij Dolce & Gabbana en andere modemerken zijn witte jurkjes met kant en broderie een musthave voor dit seizoen. Het witte jurkje van deze ontwerpers is dan ook een van de meest fotografeerde stukken op covers van modetijdschriften. 

Leer

Het lijkt tegenstrijdig om leer te dragen in het voorjaar, toch zijn er dit seizoen genoeg jasjes en tops in dun soepel leer. Mooi in combinatie met een gladde stof als zijde of chiffon voor het contrast.

VegasDeLuxe.com first reported the possibility of a contract extension on Celine’s opening night when I quizzed husband and manager Rene Angelil on the possible extension, and he told me he would have something concrete to confirm when the time was right.

Upon arriving back at their Jupiter Island, Florida, estate yesterday for an Easter break, he appeared to say “the time was right.” Celine wrapped the first run of shows Sunday night, and the cast and crew flew back to their various Canadian and U.S. homes yesterday.

I have confirmed that Celine and Rene, Caesars Palace executives and AEG are in agreement to extend the singer’s contract for the additional 24 months: “It is simply a matter of terms and conditions, but the agreement to go forward is there. Everybody involved agrees Celine will call Caesars home until 2015.”

Celine returns for the second set of shows June 7 through Aug. 14, and again I have been reliably told that Celine and Rene will then advise their onstage family of the decision to stay the extra time so that they can buy homes here if they wish.

Celine’s extension comes right on the heels of yesterday’s official confirmation that Sir Elton John is returning to the lineup of Caesars Palace superstars for a three-year residency starting in September. Rene told Michelle Coude-Lord of the Journal de Montreal: “We really are thinking of adding two more years. That should be resolved very soon. I’m optimistic.”

More than 90,000 people have seen Celine’s new show since its opening night March 15. “The welcome we received was heartwarming. Celine is at the top of her game. The show is her — a great return to Vegas — but it was enormous pressure. … I wanted it to be perfect. It’s gone so well, though, that now we feel free about it. I think we succeeded. Everybody has come up to me to say how they find Celine’s voice and show so extraordinary,” Rene added.

Celine is planning new albums in French and English for later this year. Meantime, she’s a happy and contented at-home mom to twin babies Eddy and Nelson and to son Rene-Charles. Proud poppa Rene confirmed that young Rene has been playing baseball here and continuing his schooling, attending online classes via Skype.

“Everyone is very well and happy, and that’s what counts” he concluded.

Speculation is mounting that LVMH want to buy Rodarte. Since its launch back in 2005 Rodarte has earned itself a dedicated Fashion following. It’s one of the hottest tickets at New York Fashion Week, its clothes have been sported by everyone from Chloe Sevigny and Cate Blanchett and the design duo behind it, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, even bagged themselves a much coveted CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award last year. Now it seems that the label may be getting the ultimate recognition – rumours are flying that it may be bought by LVMH.

Pierre-Yves Roussel, the chief executive of the fashion arm of LVMH, is a regular on the front row at Rodarte’s shows. And, according to WWD, talks have taken place on and off since the spring between the fashion powerhouse and Rodarte – although for now it seems that they’re more off than on.

If Rodarte were to be snapped up by LVMH then they’d be in good company – its roster includes Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Givenchy and Celine. Watch this space…
